Parkson is a supplier of equipment and solutions for potable water, process water, and industrial and municipal wastewater applications. Parkson designs, engineers, and assembles the products it sells into the municipal wastewater and industrial wastewater segments. The Company was founded in 1960 and has been owned by Axel Johnson Inc. since 1967.
Axel Johnson Inc. (AJI) is a private family company with roots dating back to 1873. AJI seeks to identify, acquire, and build companies that offer the potential to earn attractive returns on the owner’s capital as well as the opportunity to make a positive contribution to society. All of the company’s businesses meet both tests.
Importantly, AJI is an owner and operator of businesses, not an investor. AJI and the Johnson family seek to build enterprise value over the long term by continuously investing in the growth and development of the companies they own. They seek management teams that share these values, that can develop a compelling vision for their company’s future, and that are motivated to build a competitive and lasting business.
While the Company is privately held by Axel Johnson Inc, headquartered in New York City, Parkson is a free standing Company and is not a division of the parent.
Parkson is poised for significant growth, both organically and acquisitively in multiple market segments.
According to Global Water, the overall global water market will grow at a rate of $15 billion/year for the foreseeable future. Parkson supplies into the critical equipment/technology/solutions segments of this wide and rapidly expanding market. Global growth will be a critical dimension for Parkson’s future and the leadership team is focused around three emerging regions: Middle East and North Africa, India and China. In 2008, Parkson inaugurated a new office in Dubai, to better serve the emerging water/waste treatment customers in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The company primarily assembles designed components sourced from other manufacturers into system offerings and views itself as a knowledge‐based company integrating solutions to meet customer expectations. These activities have resulted in significant growth for the company in the last 10 years.
A new leadership team took the helm of the company in September 2007. The new CEO has brought new members to the leadership team with distinguished backgrounds in General Electric, Honeywell, ABB, Owens Corning, Jarden and Johns Manville.
Recently, the company was re‐organized into a business unit structure to focus on four critical growth markets: North American Municipal, Industrial Systems, Aftermarket and Services, and International.
The company has also refined its mission and values and kicked off an ambitious strategic planning process to grow and drive profitability. A new branding campaign around the core business of “Treating Water Right” is re‐defining the future business ambitions focused around the core water market.
In March, 2009, the company moved into a LEED-certified new Water Campus more conducive to collaboration and serving the environment.
