No one can deny the benefits of bedding with sand, but everyone can relate to the hassles of dealing with sand-laden dairy manure (SLDM). Now there is an effective choice to help manage sand bedding.
Parkson Sand Saver (PSS)
The
Parkson Sand Saver recovers and cleans sand from sand-laden dairy manure (SLDM) and is designed to help effectively manage sand bedding. This sand separator:
- Efficiently removes sand from manure;
- Provides washed, clean sand for reuse;
- Significantly reduces sand replacement costs;
- Keeps sand out of storage tanks, digesters and lagoons;
- Reduces equipment wear and hauling costs.
Effective - The PSS is uncomplicated and requires minimal operator attention. Its efficient washing operation can reclaim 80-90% or more of bedding sand mixed with manure. The washed sand is clean and ready for rebedding. Typically, less than 1% of organics remain in the washed sand. The result is significant reduction in sand replacement cost and sand out of storage tanks, lagoons and digesters.
Durable - Used for years in wastewater treatment facilities, the Parkson Sand Saver is a clean, enclosed, quality engineered design that is built for years of trouble-free operation. It is made of durable, corrosion-resistant stainless steel and uses shaftless spiral technology. There are no submerged bearings and the PSS sand separator has minimal maintenance requirements.
Efficient- The Parkson Sand Saver has low wash water and energy requirements. Wash water can be 100% recycled water using the Rotostrainer® Drum Screen. The low horsepower motors operate automatically on demand. The PSS sand separator requires very little operator attention. Typically 8-10% of the sand is of a very fine texture.
Gritmeister® Separator (GMR)
For enhanced recovery in sand-laden dairy manure applications, a Gritmeister Separator can be used after a Parkson Sand Saver to remove any remaining fine sand from manure effluent. The Gritmeister Separator is continuously gravity fed from the Sand Saver, the fine sand settles and the effluent is drained by gravity - no extra pumps required. The technology is ideally suited to applications such as plastic lined lagoons, manure storage tanks and digesters that have low tolerance of any sand.
