Recently, digesters based on biodegradable waste have been gaining popularity in the United States. Digesters based on manure, with economic and tax incentives, supplement farmers' income and are a source of green energy. Digester pre-treatment can enhance performance while decreasing maintenance costs. Consider incorporating sand removal, solids screening and solids pre-thickening upfront of your digesters.
Sand and Grit Removal
The Parkson Sand Saver recovers and cleans sand from sand-laden dairy manure and is designed to help effectively manage sand bedding. Removing the sand from manure keeps it out of storage tanks, digesters and lagoons. The Gritmeister® Separator can be used after the Sand Saver to remove any remaining fine sand for added protection.
Solids Screening
Trash-free sludge reduces the operation and maintenance costs of digesters, pumps, centrifuges, heat exchangers and other downstream equipment and processes. Parkson rotary drum screens provide effective screening of dairy manure with minimal operator attention. Whether internally-fed or externally-fed, Parkson's screens are performance-proven for dairy manure.
Solids Pre-Thickening
Parkson offers several dewatering choices to control digester influent. Consider the ThickTech® Rotary Drum Thickener with a low shear floc tank, followed by dewatering with a high performance rotary drum screen, to control digester influent solids content. Digester capacity and efficiency will increase with the proper liquid-solids content.
Solar Sludge Drying
The THERMO-SYSTEM® Active Solar Sludge Dryer dries dairy sludge into a biologically stable product to increase disposal options.
